Lister Lane Cemetery (link) Sunday 17th July 2011
There will be a gentle walk to the Lister Lane cemetery, Halifax this Sunday July 17th. This site is packed with wildlife and is open to the public (see link for times). Meet outside Calderdale College, Francis Street at 12 noon until 3pm for a stroll around the site. Easy parking.

  1. Two of us turned up for the outing on a rainy sunday.
    It was a fascinating first visit for me.
    Along each grassy path there was a narrow, meandering animal track of shorter grass. Presumabely made by the resident foxes.
    At one point we could look over in to the grounds of Belle Vue, the previous site of the Central Library, and the meeting place for the HSS for many years. Both of us remember the room full of stuffed birds the Society had there, though I was only a lad and not a member yet.
