Arctosa perita 15 04 12

Found this interesting Spider, Arctosa perita whilst walking on Whiteholme Drain on 15 04 12,never noticed it up there before in the many years i have been going up there,seems to be more Coastal,though records also from sandy areas inland,just wondering,as anyone else recorded it Locally ? regards Bri.

    How big or small is Arctosa perita? It looks like a tarantula in the picture!

    A good record.
    I recorded one at Cromwell Bottom on the "Sand Hills" (no longer there) in 1980 and again in 1995 on "The Yellow Brick Road". At the time it was only the third location for Yorkshire. They are typically sandy soil species and usually lowland. They are 7 to 9 mm long Steve.

  3. Thanks for comments,i will certainly be on the look out next time i am up there,its a great area for some uncommon moths and i have found at least 4 Carabus nitens Ground Beetle over the years in the same area of Whiteholme Drain.regards Bri.
