Scout Road Park 26.07.2014

This native rush is described as rare in the West Yorks Plant Atlas so this may be another first record for Calderdale. I found it in the pond at the park with Oliver yesterday evening.

Flowering Rush (Butomus umbellatus).

  1. Thanks Michael,

I didn't know what it was at the time and I just thought it was really pretty so I took quite a few pictures to help me identify it later at home.

  2. Portia has informed me that she found some last summer on the canal/river at Brockfoot, Brighouse near the fishing ponds. So this is the second record that I know of so far in Calderdale.

  3. I saw it Cromwell Bottom in the canal last year. Must go to see if it's still there.

    Nice pictures.
