Brambling in July in Hebden Bridge !


A friend sent me this photo today. He hasn't seen a male with it.

 Bramblings are usually strictly winter visitors.

Anyone sceptical of the date of the photo can check by the potato foliage behind.

    So either the poor little thing got left behind or got lost? But hopefully there's a nest somewhere!

    I did take a picture of a bird a couple of months ago that I thought was a young brambling but I was persuaded it was a linnet. I must go back and have another look.
