Lepidoptera eggs

These are on a clematis leaf in Holmfield yesterday. Are they butterfly eggs?

  1. Hi Bruce, not butterfly eggs but moths I think although it's hard to see much structure to them from your pic. Maybe Large Yellow Underwing or other noctuid species.
    Best way is to see what hatches!
